THE SCOTS (DEVILS IN SKIRTS)

The British Empire had other troops at Gallipoli than the Anzacs.

Scotland, Ireland, Canada, India, Gurkha also sent troops.

There were also Muslims among the arriving Hindus. The most militant troops among them were the Gurkhas.

The Scots were fighting at the front with their national clothes called kilts. They were always at the front and suffered many casualties. The Germans used to call these fighting, stubborn people who played their bagpipes no matter what, “devils in skirts” or “ladies from hell”.
